SolidWorks FAQ

Q - I have SolidWorks ACTIVATED on an old machine, and I want to get rid of this machine. How to I DE-Activate SolidWorks on this old computer, so that I can install and activate SolidWorks on a new computer?

A - To de-activate the seat of SolidWorks on the old computer, boot this old computer up while connected to the internet. Launch SolidWorks, then in SolidWorks choose the pulldown menu HELP> TRANSFER LICENSE. Once on this screen, choose to TRANSFER AUTOMATICALLY OVER THE INTERNET. Enter your email address and choose next. Provided you are connected to the internet, this should do the trick, and when finished, SolidWorks will automatically shut down (since it is no longer activated on this machine).

Please NOTE: If you show more than one product on this old machine(for example, you show both SolidWorks AND Simulation), you should de-activate SolidWorks LAST. Otherwise SolidWorks will automatically shut down before you have a chance to de-activate the other products.

Q - Where can I find a FULL DOWNLOAD of the SolidWorks software?

A - SolidWorks subscription support customers may download the full installation at the SolidWorks.com Customer Portal. To get into the customer portal, start by going to http://www.solidworks.com/ . Once on this site, look for the LOGIN link, found in the upper right hand corner of the webpage. Click Login, then click SolidWorks Customer Portal. If you are a new user, create a new account using the CLICK HERE TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT link. Once you have an account, log in, and on the main page look for the DOWNLOADS AND UPDATES link. From here, you can download a full installation of SolidWorks.
