When contacting technical support, please have the following information available so our application engineer will be able to assist you quicker:

  • Company and contact information (phone & email)
  • SolidWorks version and service pack
  • SolidWorks serial number
  • Video card manufacturer andmodel
  • Video card driver and version
  • Hardware / OS information (i.e. RAM, OS version & type, network type etc.)
  • An accurate, complete description of the issue. Send screen shots and notes for specific comments. MS Paint can be used to capture and annotate and image. Use ALT-PrntScrn and paste the results into a paint program.
  • If you notice any systematic pattern, suggest it to the technician. It might give him a clue. "It always happens on assembly mates". "It only happens when I use my space pilot" etc.

In addition, the technician may need:

  • The data files that are causing the problems. Remember that sending a drawing or assembly isn't enough. You must send the part file.
  • The performance and SolidWorks log files. If you have these, send them also
