Mastercam Tips & Tricks

Use right-click menus.
Mastercam uses right-click menus extensively to highlight useful commands and functions. If you're unsure about what to do, right-click to see a list of relevant functions. For example, right-click on the Operations Manager dialog box to see a list of functions related to operations. There is a right click menu in every white area of a dialog box.

Use "What's This" help.
To quickly see a pop-up definition of something in a dialog box, click the"?" button on the dialog box, then click on any field or button.

Save files quickly.
To quickly save a file without changing its name, press "Alt + A" and then [ENTER].
Check for duplicate entities.
Sometimes you might have duplicate entities on top of each other that can be hard to detect, especially if you've converted a file from another format. Choose Main Menu > Delete> Duplicates to delete these entities. You can also use the FINDOVLP C-hook to find and remove overlapping entities.

Enter Fractions directly.
In most places where you need to enter a number or measurement, Mastercam lets you enter a formula. For example, you can enter 4+11/16 instead of calculating 4.6875, or 360/7 instead of 54.43.

Copy values from existing geometry.
Any time you need to enter a value for toolpath parameters or creating entities, you can read a coordinate or other value from an entity in you drawing. Type "?" in the field and choose an option from the menu.
