Q - How can I bring point cloud data into Mastercam?
A - Typically the point cloud data is in a spreadsheet or text
file. You'll want to get the data into a form that will facilitate
bringing it into Mastercam. The first column of data is X,
the second is Y and the third is Z. The easiest way to bring it in
is to save the spreadsheet as a CSV file (Comma Separated
Value).
With the file saved as .csv, open Mastercam, go to Open File and
set your File of Type to ASCII. Make sure it's ASCII and not ACIS.
Then select the Options button and select Points. Mastercam will
create points at the locations specified in each row of the csv
file.
